Jean Jang
Korean American, Jean was raised in Austin, Texas, training in classical ballet and jazz at Ballet Austin Academy. Ballet Austin Academy has given her opportunities to build her performing experiences in The Nutcracker and the Young Artists Spring Show for many years. She participated in various dance and choreography workshops including Lines Ballet Summer Intensive, Ballet Austin Summer Intensive, Charlotte New Music Festival - where she was chosen as one of the main choreographers to set a collaborated work with a composer, and Regional Dance of America National Choreography Intensive - where she was selected as a Project Tier Choreographer.
Her passion for dance led her to become a student at Butler University as a Dance Performance major, where she graduated with a degree Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2013.
Jean has choreographed, danced, and directed professionally in small project based companies in California and New York. She presented multiple choreographic works in Manhattan, New York.
Jean moved to Seoul, South Korea in 2015 and danced professionally for multiple contemporary dance companies-
Black Toe Contemporary Dance Company
Andamiro Art Company.
At Dulwich College Seoul, Jean excelled as a Dance Specialist and a Director, where she held a leadership position within the dance department and actively collaborated with various other departments. Her responsibilities included directing a wide range of production styles and frequently engaging in creative partnerships with both the Music and Drama departments.
She found passion for photography which led her to establish her freelance photography career in Korea.
Jean finished her higher education of classical ballet at Royal Academy of Dance, London, and she awarded with Licentiate of Royal Academy of Dance (LRAD) with Distinction. She has gained a status of Associate of the Royal of Academy of Dance (ARAD), LRAD, and Registered Teacher Status (RTS).
Jean established a professional project-based dance company called JJ Motion (Seoul, South Korea). She was chosen as a director and a choreographer through Korea Ballet Association and produced performances. Jean was given an award as the Rising Choreographer in 2020.
Jean was offered a position as the lead of Junior School Dance at Dulwich College Singapore and committed to the position for two years.
April of 2024, Jean want to explore other opportunities and decided to join the entertainment industry. She moved back to her motherland South Korea and joined SM Entertainment in June 2024. She is currently in a role of A&R for their Dance Music Label called, ScreaM Records.
